Junior rugby is a game for everyone. Girls from under 6 to 12 years of age can play junior club rugby and participate in mixed gender teams. More recently, the game of Rugby 7s has created a great deal of interest for girls of all ages with the ARU Women’s Sevens team, the Pearls, winning the inaugural Rugby 7s gold medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016. A fun, fast and exciting game, Rugby 7s is being embraced by all ages and abilities.
A number of pathways have been developed that offer girls the opportunity to play both socially and competitively. West Juniors is considered one of the pioneers of Girl’s 7’s rugby in Sydney. As a club and district, we have placed a huge strategic focus on developing this program and are experiencing tremendous growth in numbers and huge success on the field, both at club and state levels.
